Today we stocked the new Nikon D600 with the 24-85mm 3.5-4.5 G VR lens that accompanied it. We have never used this lens before and figured walking around the Downtown Pomona Arts Colony would be a nice way to break her in. It wasn’t an extensive use of the setup but just enough to get to know the main features. We are mainly Canon shooters here at IE Photo Rentals but we do have our Nikon favorite counterparts (D700 =). The D600 definitely feels like a baby D800 and we liked the balance of it. We figured it would be more like a “plastic-ie” body such as the Rebel but it definitely held it’s own. We will do further tests in the future with higher end primes but the 24-85mm did a “ok” job holding it down on the optics department. Wasn’t great, wasn’t bad. Here are a few photos and 100% crops all shot wide open. We are now renting the D600 for $85 and the 24-85mm 3.5-4.5 is $25 for 3 days (Friday to Monday).
