Magic is a sweet combination of hard work and love and so was MyDelight’s 5 year anniversary celebration! When I was talking to Naomi the night before her special event, we were talking about the failure rate for restaurants in Los Angeles…. the numbers are staggering but if you guys do not know, it is 90% of restaurants/food businesses fail in the first five years. So to think that reaching the five year milestone is an achievement is an understatement.
We personally know the struggle of operating a business from scratch… they compare it to having a new baby because… well it is! Constant building and maintaining a business is 3 full time jobs. So when we visited the MyDelight team the morning of their big event, we saw all of the blood, sweat and tears put into their passion for serving the public their sweet creations. By the time we left at 12pm (which their event started) the line was all the way down the street. It is no wonder that MyDelight has become such a well known cupcakery not only representing Ontario, CA but all of the Inland Empire.
Here is a video from the day:
Naomi had a special request for me to handle her brownies since she hadn’t yet photographed them. It was hard for me not to sneak them in my pocket and save for later so I could self-indulge on my own plus it would have looked super strange with my pockets bulging…. lol. If you look at the bottom of the pyramid two photos up, you can see my fingers imprinted into the brownie (yes I wore a glove) as they were super soft and chewy ready to be devoured. The second brownie shot was photographed with ambient light and the bottom two were shot with off camera strobes as a kicker light and the natural ambient light coming in from behind me. Love to see the textures in these. Top shot was an ambient shot as well.
The prep work for all of their goodies have to come from a place of love because it is intense! The amount of detail that one cupcake takes is enormous but this is a daily ordeal for these workers of art and food. These snowmen cupcakes are a win win win! Used a off-camera strobe above and behind the baker to add a flare…. worked for me.
Everyone of their containers have stickers that hand applied. A lot of attention to detail and love…!
This is the breakfast of breakfasts! Maple bacon with maple syrup drizzled over this cupcake will make anyone surrender to their knees. First time I saw this, I thought it would be enjoyable but it knocked the socks off me! I love you bacon, I loved you before I knew you and you knew me…. oh wait, sorry for that tangent.
Here are some of the finished icons on display. Just look at them looking all sexy and ready for consumption! Look I say!
Everyone loves a good funnel cake… the thoughts of the days at the summer fair… well you no longer have to wait until then cause you can get a slice of summer at MyDelight. The amount of work these take from frying the funnel cake, adding strawberry toppings to finishing them off with powdered sugar. Just go get one already… writing this blog is one of the hardest things I’ve had to do.
Fresh picked berries all awaiting their place on top of a work of art. I wish I were you berries….
Dripp Bar was representing keeping everyone hydrated with their awesome coffee making skills. They are located in Chino Hills at The Shoppes. They got goodies of all kinds, including MyDelight Cupcakes. Go check them out.
Then we met a couple of cool cats inside the Sweetbeats LA DJ truck… a mobile truck that brings the life of the party…. that is sahweet!
Congrats to the MyDelight Team once again on their achievement! We know this is only the beginning of your huge success and love to see what you guys do next!
